Here at Rogers Family Dental, we are always looking to stay on the cutting edge of new dental technology. That is why we are excited to be able to report that we are the first office in our area to offer Cone Beam 3D CT Imaging!
What is Cone Beam CT (CBCT)? Most of us are familiar with CT (CAT) scans that are done at the hospital which are three-dimensional images that can show problems in our bodies. This same type of imaging is now available for the teeth and jaws without having to go to the hospital and with much, much less exposure to x-rays. The scan only takes seconds and is painless.
What is CBCT used for in dentistry? We can see and diagnose problems much more easily then before by being able to see things in 3D instead of only traditional two-dimensional images. This can be very useful in diagnosing more difficult dental problems that are not easily seen with regular x-rays such as chronic tooth pain, root canal problems, and oral cancer screening. Also, we use CBCT very routinely for dental implant planning. With implants, it is critical that we are able to see exactly where the implant needs to go to safely replace a tooth root.
Before, our patients had to travel great distances to be able to get a 3D scan, but now we are proud to offer this exciting technology to our patients right here in Greeneville!
