Are you looking for a dentist?

Are you new to the area and trying to find a dental home? Perhaps you have a current dentist in the Greeneville area but have wanted to make a change.

If you are searching for quality dental care, you may be wondering: what is the difference between all of these dental offices?

Or, to put it another way: What makes a dentist “good”?

We are glad you asked! Here are four things we think you should look for in a dentist:

1) Commitment to going above and beyond for continuing education

When you love to learn, you never want to stop learning! Each state requires a certain amount of continuing education per year in order for dentists to keep their licenses. Tennessee dentists are required to have 20 hours per year as the minimum. Our doctors do not feel this is adequate to be able to keep up with all of the advances in dentistry. Both doctors at Rogers Family Dental take over four times the recommended amount of continuing education per year. Every year, each doctor spends 90-100 hours attending courses to learn about new techniques and technology. They travel across the country and across the world to hear the best speakers. Both of our doctors have won ACE Awards from the Tennessee Dental Association for their commitment to continuing education. We feel these hours directly translate into improved patient care.

2) A belief that patients should be involved in decisions about their care

When patients are part of the team, the team is complete. In some offices, the patient is more of a spectator in treatment; there is only one option, “take it or leave it”. Our team believes that patient involvement and education is paramount. We will spend the time you need to explain all of your options in depth and involve you in the decision-making process. When patients know what we are doing and why we are doing it, they make better decisions for themselves and their expectations are met.

3) A clean, organized, up-to date office that feels like home

You may have been in medical or dental offices that felt like they had not been cleaned properly or updated since 1970. We are proud of our new state of the art facility which we recently built and moved into. It was designed by a world-class dental office design architect and features a clean, organized atmosphere which does not feel “clinical”. Our treatment rooms offer TV’s with your choice of channel and headphones so you can relax during your treatment. We offer free WiFi and complementary refreshments plus video games for kids (or adults!). We offer digital radiography to minimize x-ray dosage and the newest in 3D CT imaging is available in our office to minimize your need to travel to other offices.

4) Dentists who give back to their community

Our doctors believe that our practice should be committed to making a positive difference in our community and our world. They have both done numerous overseas dental mission trips to Mexico, Peru, and the Dominican Republic. We also believe that we should serve the public locally and that is why our doctors and assistants volunteer at our local free dental clinic for low-income patients and also at local and regional RAM (Remote Area Medical) missions to serve the underserved. Dr. Jon is also active in the local church. Dr. Jon plays guitar weekly to help lead the music and has been on church dental/medical mission trips to Peru and the Dominican Republic. We believe in following the model of servant leadership: “Whoever wants to be great among you must be a servant”.
