Fall is a time for going back to school. While not everyone is so excited about that, our dentists here at Rogers Family Dental love this time of year because continuing education programs ramp back up after the summer break. Our doctors have been at continuing education meetings nearly every week this fall. People sometimes wonder why we do not work some Fridays, and that is the main reason! Here is an update about what Dr. Jon Rogers and Dr. Mike Rogers have been learning about in the last few months:
1) Florida trip to the Biomet 3i factory, a dental implant company factory
Our doctors were invited to travel to Florida to tour the factory of one of the leading dental implant companies, Biomet 3i. There, they saw how the implants were made, talked to the designers and factory workers, and learned about future plans for new dental implant technology. They also had two days of intensive continuing education at the Biomet 3i Institute for Implant and Reconstructive Dentistry.
2) Biomet 3i Graduate Synergy Training Program
Both of our doctors here at Rogers Family Dental are involved in a dental study club that meets several times a year in Knoxville. 25 dentists, oral surgeons, orthodontists, and prosthodontists meet together to hear world-class speakers and to discuss the latest in dental treatment and technology. These day long meetings allow for discussion of challenging cases and an overall furthering of dental knowledge in East Tennessee.
3) Dental University Program
Dr. Jon Rogers is a member of a study club in Kingsport/Johnson City that brings a small group of well respected dentists and dental specialists together to discuss solutions to challenging treatment planning problems. The group recently hosted an expert dental researcher from Ohio State University who spoke about the future of CAD/CAM technology and how it will change dentistry. Exciting stuff!
Each year, Tennessee requires each dentist have 20 hours of continuing education. Dr. Jon Rogers and Dr. Michael Rogers both take over four times that amount per year. Last year, each doctor took over 90 hours of continuing education. This commitment to continuing education is one of the key factors we believe makes us who we are: a premier dental practice providing world class dentistry with a home town touch.
